Did you do that?!

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

As everybody knows, starting in March of 2020 we all had to learn to navigate dealing with Covid.

My husband and I have a lovely office suite in Wethersfield Connecticut. I love our office space it's cozy, warm, bright, and inviting. During work hours we have nice soft lighting and many small accent lights that stay on all of the time including a few salt lamps. Pre-pandemic you could walk in and be greeted by a large coffee bar with a fun assortment of mugs and different coffees, teas, and hot chocolates to choose from. Clients, mine and Ed's, would often arrive a few minutes early to pick their favorite mug and make themselves a fresh cup of coffee. They would sit and regroup before their therapy sessions or their readings.

When news of the virus started getting serious we removed all the coffee cups and coffeemaker which left the space looking unfinished and unwelcoming. Shortly after that we just started working from home, Ed spent all day in our theater room in the basement doing therapy sessions via telehealth and I would occasionally do a reading via Zoom. People were reprioritizing and psychic medium readings were not on many people's radar. We only went to the office occasionally to pick up mail and water plants. Opening the door and flipping on the overhead light made the space feel sad, empty, and lonely.

I noticed during my quick visits, dust beginning to settle on surfaces and some of our accent lights had burned out.

Since I am the practice manager for our therapy business I know that many of Ed's clients were also working from home and often had family members around. Many people would have trouble finding a quiet, private space in their home to have their therapy session without being overheard. It's been a challenge for many.

Eventually, people started looking for direction and I started getting appointment requests for readings. During the summer I would meet with people outside in my backyard at my pool, socially distanced of course. When the weather turned colder I did all sessions via Zoom from my home until a good friend contacted me and said "I need a reading."

Knowing she was one of the people who might have trouble finding a private space in her home, I invited her to choose Zoom or my office. She chose the office and I was so happy to see a new face in person!!

I arrived early and turned on the soft lamps in the waiting room and the place was coming alive a little. I walked into my office to meditate before our session and remembered that my salt lamp bulb had died a while ago and I wanted to change it before the reading but I didn't have time. I meditated and then greeted my friend. I invited her into my office and we sat down and caught up for a few minutes before I began her reading.

I closed my eyes for a second to get grounded and organize what I was feeling to report to her. I opened my eyes and began to speak, for some reason I was drawn to look to my far right on my shelf where my salt lamp is, she was looking in that direction too and the lamp turned on!! We both looked at each other wide-eyed and she asked if I did that?! I said no and it's too far away for me to reach anyway. Coincidence or validation? Not sure. I left the office after the reading and the light was still on. The next time I came back it was out again.

Now that things are starting to get back to "normal" we'll be heading back into the office again soon. I will dust and change light bulbs, unfortunately, I think the coffee bar will just be a piece of large unused furniture that I will decorate with plants or lamps but I'm looking forward to doing in-person readings again and feeling the energy!
